Amos Elmer Babcock was born on Jun 22, 1895 in Bradshaw, York County, Nebraska. He was the third of five children born to Caroline "Clara" Ellen Stubbs Aug 14, 1870 Aug 02, 1901 and Elmer Ellsworth Babcock Jun 05, 1868 Jul 31, 1939.
Shortly after the passing of his mother in Aug 1901, Amos's father returned to Ohio with the family and remarried to Sophia J. about 1902.
Amoss siblings were Mabel M. 1890 1902, Mina May 1892 1980, Robert Oliver 1898 1931 and Albion Albert 1901 1966, with his half sisters being Anna G. about 1902 - , Hattie E. about 1904 - , Mary L. about 1908 and Ella Agnes about Sep 1909.
He was born into a farming family and he continued doing so up to Sep 5, 1917 when he enlisted as a Private in the US Army at the age of twenty three. Serving with Co G 329 Infantry; Co B 608 Military Police; Co H 331 and Co L 28 Infantry attached with the American Expeditionary Forces from June 20, 1918 to Aug 20, 1919 being "slightly" wounded in action on Oct 9, 1918. On Feb 15, 1919 he was advanced to Private 1st Class receiving an Honorable discharge on Sep 20, 1919 joining many of his country men as a WW II Veteran.
On Oct 29, 1919 in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio he entered into marriage with Aletha Leona Crawford May 18, 1897 Jan 22, 1921; daughter of Alice Elizabeth Hall Sep 09, 1865 Apr 14, 1911 and Simpson Grant Crawford Oct 31, 1864 Feb 25, 1921; and from this union one daughter was born, Mary Allurh Jun 2, 1920 Jun 3, 2004.
With the passing of his wife, Aletha, on Jan 22, 1921 at some point there after his daughter was placed into the States Foster Child Program.
About 1924 he remarried to Jennie M. Reese; daughter of Rosa V. Benson and Oliver Leroy Reese, and in 1930 they were residing in Fostoria, Ohio.
Amos married a third time after 1940 to Ida I. Linn 1904 1982; daughter of Bertha and Elzy Linn of Morrow County, Ohio.
On Jan 1, 1969 Amos passed in Mount Gilead, Morrow County, Ohio with his remains being interned in Bryn Cemetery to be joined by his wife Ida I. in 1981.
