Death: Sep. 9, 1890

Emily Chidsey, daughter of Timothy Goodrich Chidsey (1793-1856) and Sally Thrall (1792-1824) was born on Oct 17, 1822 in Cazenovia, Madison Co., N.Y. Prior to 1821 her parents moved to Camden, Oneida County, in the same State, where she married Daniel Hale Jr., Dec. 17, 1839. Daniel Hale, Jr, son of Daniel Hale (1780-1844) and Polly Bartlett (1778- ) was born on Sep 14, 1814 in Bennington, Bennington County, VT, his parents removing to Florence, Oneida Co., N.Y., when he was about twelve years old.

Daniel Hale being by profession a blacksmith and machinist, removed himself and Emily to Sacket's Harbor, at which place their first two children were born, Marion Josephine (Jan 19, 1841) and Polly Elizabeth (Feb 19, 1843); thence they moved to Florence, Oneida Co., where Lucy Amelia was born (Apr 17, 1846); thence they moved on the line of the New York and Erie Railroad, living a short time at Oswego, Barton, Elmira, and Watkins, and finally fixed a residence at Hinsdale, Cattaraugus Co., where the balance of their children were born; Emily Frances (Jun 8, 1850), Sarah Delphine (Mar 6, 1853), Thomas Henry Fremont (Oct 29, 1856) and Daniel Trumbull (Dec 20, 1858).

Emily Hale died on Sep 9, 1890 at the age of sixty-eight, in Hornell, Steuben County, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel who died six years earlier.

Few families are as well documented as the Hale and Chidsey families. Daniel is the 4th great-grandson of Thomas Hale who was born at Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire, England in May/June 1606. He was a glover. He and his wife Thomasine Dowsett immigrated on the ship Hector, arriving 10 May 1637 in Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Emily is the 4th great-grandaughter of John Chedsey who was born in London, England in 1621. He came to America in 1642 on the ship Hector with many others of the area who felt the constraints of religious persecution. He settled in New Haven, Connecticut, where he became a respected member of the community, landowner and church deacon.
