Funeral Rites for Three Anderson Sisters Accident Shocks Dansville.

Three Dansville girls were buried in Greenmount Cemetery yesterday, victims of an accident which cast a pall over the community after news of the Saturday night tragedy spread quickly through town.

Judy Marie Anderson, 17, Janet Lynn Anderson, 12, and Jane Anderson, 6, were killed when struck by a car while walking along upper Main St. shortly before 8:30 p.m. The girls were children of Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Bonnie Farrell) Anderson of Stones Falls Rd.

While sorrow surrounds the family, relatives and friends, the hard facts of legal process must continue. Driver of the car, Donald Rowe, 24, of 89 Buffalo St. in Wayland has been charged with three counts of manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

He was arraigned on the charges before Dansville Justice Joseph G. Rauber who ordered Rowe held in $15,000 bail pending further action. The case is being handled by District Attorney Ronald Cicoria and the investigation team from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office is headed by Senior Investigator Robert Forrester of Dansville. Dansville police also assisted Saturday night as the accident scene was just outside the village.

A friend of the three sisters, Kim Gallagher, 17, of Reeds Corners Rd. in Sparta, was walking with them but was not struck by the vehicle. The girls had been to Gerry's Dairy Bar for ice cream and were walking home along the right shoulder of the highway and were struck from behind. Kim was on the inside and escaped being hit by the car.

Janet was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Stanley Jackson of Mt. Morris, county coroner. Judy was pronounced dead upon arrival at Noyes Memorial Hospital where she was rushed by the Dansville ambulance. Jane was treated at Noyes and transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, Sunday morning. She died there at 7:30 p.m. that day.

The tragic deaths have brought sadness among the girls' friends in the public school. Judy was a student in the Senior High and also attended Charles G. May School at Mt. Morris. Janet, a fifth grade pupil in the Elementary School, was also active in the band. A school career was just starting for Jane who was in the first grade.

Surviving in addition to their parents are a brother, Steven, at home; their maternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen Farrell and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Dorothy Ayers, both of Dansville.

Service were conducted in the Chamberlin Funeral Home. (Genesee County Express, May 8, 1975, p1)
