Frederick George Ackley, 75, of Foxglove Road, formerly of Main Street, Townsend, died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Centerville, after an illness.
Mr. Ackley was born in Watertown, on March 24, 1934, the son of George and Ruth (Cronk) Ackley, and resided many years in Townsend before moving to Centerville.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Helen F. (Antilla) Ackley.
For four years, Mr. Ackley served his country in the Navy. During that time, he was stationed on the USS Roanoke in the Mediterranean Sea.
He was a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Ackley taught English at the North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, retiring in 1988.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St. (Route 119), Townsend Center. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. Mr. Ackley's family will receive family and friends on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
