CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Mary Etta Lanier Auten, formerly of Moore's Chapel Road, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Belmont, and the daughter of the late Thomas Columbus Lanier and Anna Lynn Lanier.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church of Charlotte.
Interment: Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2008, McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont.
Mary Etta was raised in Belmont and began playing as a church organist at the age of 14 in East Belmont Baptist Church, then Moore's Chapel United Methodist Church, and beginning in 1968 at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker but was also retired from Belk's. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors: Daughters, Paula Auten Price and husband Jerry of Charlotte; Gina Auten Warner and husband Paul of Waxhaw; grandchildren, Jason Price and wife Megan; Anna Price, all of Mount Holly; Marcie Warner; Brittany Warner, both of Waxhaw; great-grandson, Charlie Price of Mount Holly; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: In addition to her parents, her husband of 49 years, Paul Springs Auten; brothers, Grady, Arthur, Rev. William, and Richard Lanier, and sisters, Hattie Lanier Stewart and Ila Mae Lanier Isenhour Bush.
