After Alden's death she stayed in the Motel for a year or two before selling it to Randall and Mae Mercer, and moving to a single family dwelling.
When asked why she changed from the Baptist Church to the Episcopal Church she said it was because of the availability of it. When they moved to Blunt they attended the Methodist Church until after Alden's death. When the Open Bible Church started in Blunt, she attended that and was a mover in getting a church built.
