Dewey H. Chalfant, 74, of Brownstown, Fayette City, died Saturday, September 29, 2001, in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was born December 6, 1926, a son of the late Hugh H. and Jean Legg Chalfant. He was a member of the Naomi A.C. Club, Belgium Club, Allenport Rod and Gun Glub, Slovak Club of Roscoe, American Legion of Roscoe and the Italia Unita Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Geller Chalfant; and a granddaughter, Lisa Yannacci Welsh. Survivors include his children, Chad Chalfant and wife Liz of Indiana, Darlene Granato and husband Ron of Indiana, Jean Yannacci, Janet Chalfant, Denise Moriarty and Aggie Chalfant all of Fayette City; brothers William Chalfant of Follansbee, W.Va., and Robert Lee Chalfant of Weirton, W.Va.; sisters Isabell Metzger of Wellsburg, W.Va., and Jean Vastartis of Cleveland Ohio, nine grandchildren, Chad and Kellee Chalfant, Chad, Todd and Brian Granto, Gina Moriarty, Amber Hricko, Laura and Tyler Krajzel; and four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Paige, and Dylan Granato and Ragan Welsh. Friends will be received in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home Inc., 334 main Street, Fayette City, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday until 11 a.m. when funeral services will take place with pastor Bryan Cinelli officiating. Interment will be private for the family.
