OBITUARY -
Ghamond A. Brooks Jr., 63, Topeka, died Wednesday, Sept 13, 2000, at his home. Services were at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, from Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel, Topeka. A graveside service was at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 16 at Wamego City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Road, Topeka, 6617-1201.
He was born April 22, 1937, in Blue Rapids, the son of Ghamond A. and Laura Loretta Ball Brooks, Sr. He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1955, and attended Kansas State University. He was a draftsman and had worked for Burgwin and Martin Engineers, Van Doren Engineers and Book Platt and Stallings Engineers. He began refinishing pool tables in 1964 as a hobby and later became the owner and operator of Brooks Billard supply Inc., which had been located at 2521 S.W. 37th Street, Topeka, since 1977. He married Margaret Rombeck Dec. 23, 1956. She died April 10, 1971.
Survivors are a brother, Roger Lincoln Brooks, and two sisters, Loretta Ann Petr, Blue Rapids, and Rose Jennifer.
