Birth: Apr. 30, 1893

Arkansas, USA
Death: Jul. 31, 1952
Sevier County
Arkansas, USA

Emma Ruth Bratcher was born April 30, 1893 to Lawson Monroe Bratcher and Alice Clay. Her headstone reads 1903 as the year of her birth, but according to Census and marriage records, this is incorrect and should read 1893. She was living in Milford, Sevier County, Arkansas when she married John Albert Baker on September 25, 1910. John was 24 and Emma or Emmie as she was sometimes called, was 17 years of age. The marriage record records her age as 18, but it appears it was common practice for the young lady to lie about her age when it came to marriage. Albert and Emma would have two girls; Iva Mae Baker, born 1912 and Verna Ruth Baker, born 1927. They would live their life out in Red Colony, Sevier County, Arkansas. Emma would pass away on July 31, 1952 and be buried near her parents in Kingree Cemetery, just east of Lockesburg, Arkansas. She would be joined by her husband on April 9, 1965.
