MASHPEE — Aurora B. Bird, 87, of Mashpee, passed away at the Mashpee Care and Rehabilitation on December 28, 2012, after a two-year battle with advancing Alzheimer's leading to a hemorrhagic stroke. She was the beloved wife of Norman J Bird of 64 years.
Aurora, originally from Fall River, spent a great amount of time in California with her husband when he was in the U.S. Air Force. While in California she worked as a teacher's aide assisting children in special education. She eventually settled in Mashpee with her husband and continued to work with children in special education at the Mashpee Middle School. She also volunteered in many towns and departments such as the Mashpee senior center and the council on aging. She received the Silver Dove Award for her dedication and love for volunteering.
In addition to her loving husband Norman, Aurora is survived by her sister Annette Botelho of Fall River.
