FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR S. J. KNIGHT
Soloman John Knight died at his home in Highwood, February 25 after an illness of two weeks. S. J. Knight was born in Essex county Ontario, February 6, 1866. He came to Bay City when a young man and worked there as a fireman on the Michigan Central Railroad. He was married to Annetta Oatman, September 18, 1895 and to them were born nine children. Two of whom preceded Mr. Knight in death. Mr. and Mrs. Knight moved to Gladwin in the winter of 1899, and in 1906 settled on a farm in Highwood where they have since resided.
Surviving him besides his wife are three sons, Wycliff and George of Lansing, Clyde of Winegars, four daughters, Mrs. Marie Bennett of Eagle, Mrs. Grace Goodrich of Lansing, Mrs. Evagaline Todd of Highwood and Mrs. Ruby Arkema of Skeels, seventeen grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lydia Wood of Windsor, Ontario and two half brothers, Wilfred and Walter Knight of Windsor, Ontario.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home in Highwood with Re. W. J. Johnson and Rev. Carl Koerner officiating. Interment in Highwood Cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 3-1/1939 Column – 1 Page – 5.
