Injuries fatal to R. Biddle. - Services for former night watchman to be held Tuesday.
Rousseau Biddle, 79, former night watchman at the Union City Body company, died at 10 a. m. Sunday in the Wayne hospital at Greenville, O. Death was attributed to injuries sustained in January, 1940, when he was struck by an automobile while walking along the Union City-Greenville road. The accident necessitated the immediate amputation of his left arm.
Mr. Biddle was born on October 10, 1870, in Darke county, Ohio, near Palestine, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Biddle. He attended the Palestine schools, but had spent nearly all the rest of his life in Union City. For eighteen years he was employed as night watchman at the Union City Body company.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters, Deo Biddle and George Biddle, of Orient, O.; Mrs. Mary Alice Brown, of Versailles, O.; Mrs. Elizabeth Parker, of Winchester, and Mrs. Rachel Lairson, of Union City, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Fraze Funeral home in Union City, with Rev. Ralph Ditmyer officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where friends may call after noon today.
