Arthur Elwood Hopkins, 87, of Madison passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012. Mr. Hopkins was born on May 7, 1925 to the late Benjamin and Ella Mae Woodruff Hopkins. He retired from the United States Army after 26 years of service having served in both Word War II and the Korean War. Mr. Hopkins was a member of Centennial Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and collecting coins.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife Ruth Hopkins Knox and children Brenda Beach of Keystone Heights, Fla., Arthur Gerald Hopkins and Tomi of Barefoot Bay, Fla., Wayne Elwood Hopkins and Sharron of Hiram and Ray Alan Hopkins of Madison; 10 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The family received friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. at Centennial Baptist Church. Interment took place at the Madison City Cemetery.
