Marvin J. Hanson 79 Ladysmmith, former Rusk County Board chairman, died March 3 at Rusk County Memorial Nursing Home.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1912 at Russell, Minn the son of John and Anna Hanson

He moved to Milltown, Wic while a young boy, attended school there and grew to manhood. He farmed with his stepfather (Walter Nelson).

He came to Rusk County in 1948 and farmed in the Township of Grow, retiring in 1981

He and Alice Coggins were married on Sept 4,1943, in Ladysmith.

He served on the township of the Grow board for many years, much of that time as chairman. He was on the Rusk County Board for 20 years, serving 14 years as chairman

He served on several state committees and also on area committees.

He was a charter member of the Ladysmith Baptist Church, having served as Sunday School teacher, deacon and trustee.

He had a great love and concern for his family and for people, and most of all had a deep love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife Alice; two sons, Allan (Jan) Hanson and Bruce (Chris) Hanson, both of Ladysmith.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Elvera Peterson and Ruby Neslund, both of St. Paul, Minn.

He was preceded in death by a brother - Leroy Nelson and a sister - Iola Nelson.
Funeral services were at 11 A.m. on March 6 in the Ladysmith Baptist Church with Pastor Ron O'Bryan officiating and burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
