Hepsobel Higbie Amberman

Hepsobel was born to John Higbie (1710-1759) and Sarah Hendrickson (1715-1835) in 1738 at Jamaica, Queens, New York, USA.

She married Cornelius Amerman/Amberman in 1757 and they had one child, Derrick, born in Queens County in 1759. He was baptized on May 8, 1759 at the Reformed Dutch Church in New Hempstead, New York. Hepsobel died in 1759, possibly related to childbirth. The burial site for Hepsobel and her husband Cornelius, is unknown.

There is an Amerman/Amberman family tree chart in the Jamaica Public Library, Queens County, New York, created by Charles R. Ammerman, 3908 Guilford Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, which documents the fact that Cornelius had married Hepsobel. It is quite an extensive, large, and quite detailed chart. The address for the Queens Borough Public Library, 89-11 Merrick Boulevard, Jamaica, New York 11432. There is also an old Dutch Bible that belonged to the original Amerman/Ammerman/Amberman family that listed her as Cornelius' wife. I believe this family bible may be in the posession of a Thomas Ammerman.

I recently found proof that you had only the one child Derrick. Jan John Amerman/Amberman was born to Cornelius' third wife Abigil Okely in 1766. Rest in peace dear lady; I love you!
