William Scott Nattrass, Sr., 90, of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at his home surrounded by family. He was born November 14, 1919, in Haswell England, to Henderson and Lily Henderson Nattrass. He fell in love with and married Imogene Ash on April 29, 1943, in Virginia.
William was a veteran of World War II and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He served in New Foundland with the 49th Bomb Squad from November of 1941 until July of 1942. He served in England and North Africa with the 1st Anti Submarine Squad from January of 1943 until December of 1943. He served in Siapan with the 870th Bomb Squad working on B-29 Bombers from October of 1944 until September of 1945. He finished his military career in Alaska, in July of 1950. He was a mechanic and loved to rebuild anything he could get his hands on, especially old Volkswagens. He also enjoyed taking old worn out furniture and rebuilding it into new stools and furniture. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; son George Nattrass; and granddaughter, Cortnie Zella; He is survived by his loving wife, Imogene Nattrass of Gonzales; daughter, Kathy Zella and husband Mike of Gonzales; sons, William "Bill" Nattrass, Jr. of Gonzales, Kenneth Nattrass and wife Laura of Seagoville, TX, and Richard Nattrass and wife Rebecca of Sandia, TX; sister, Thelma Satterfield of Mansfield, OH; grandchildren, Wade Zella and wife Laura, Skylar Zella, Megan Nattrass, Kimery Nattrass, Amanda Nattrass, Cpl. Scott Nattrass and wife Tristan, Jennifer Payne, Zayra Regino, and Alex Cardenas; and great grandchildren, Kamrynn Zella and Cordin Nattrass.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice in William's name.
