JAMES M DOLAN, Who came to Denver in 1865 by ox train and graded Larimer street, for many years the city's main street. Mr Dolan died at his home in Garden City, Kan., Saturday, Oct 20,1936.

James M. Dolan, who was one of the earliest settlers in Denver and graded Larimer street for the first time back in 1868, died at his home in Garden City, Kan., Saturday, according to dispatches.
Mr. Dolan was born in Freeman, Mo. He would have been 99 in December. He came to Denver on Oct. 25, 1865, by ox team from Nebraska. In the grading and construction business he did considerable work for the Union Pacific Railroad in the building of their first tracks here.
He was a confederate soldier in the Civil War, having enlisted from Missouri under Gen. Sterling Price. He spent a year in federal prison after his cature by northern forces.

I have read that he also built the railroad bed from Houston, Texas to Little Rock, Arkansas. As his great great granddaughter I am very proud to say that I am in the same blood line.
