Frederick George Bellinger, a resident of Fairhope, died Oct. 30, 1998. He was born in Charlevoix, Mich. on Dec. 2, 1917. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retiring from the Corps of Engineers with the rank of Lt. Col. He was a graduate of Perdue University and was employed as a mechanical engineer in the petro-chem industry in Lake Charles, La. prior to retiring in Fairhope. Bellinger was a life long sailor, a longtime member of the United States Power Squadron, a member of the Fairhope Power Squadron and the Fairhope Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rosemary W. Bellinger; his son Brian and his wife of Dothan; his daughter Kate and her husband, Ray of Austin, Texas; a grandson, Kyle Bellinger of Ocean Springs, Miss.
At his request his body was donated to the University of South Alabama Medical School. No service was held.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Fairhope Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship Building fund or the Eastern Shore Art Center.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope.
