Mrs. Frances A. Wilcox Brown, 68, of Syracuse, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013. A native and life resident of Syracuse, Fran was born on October 18, 1944 to the late Roy and Catherine (Quirk) Wilcox.
Fran was employed as a senior correctional officer at Jamesville Penitentiary for over 20 years retiring in 2007 due to her illness.
Fran enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading mystery novels, watching old movies, cooking, picnicking and spending time with her family and friends
She was predeceased by her husband and "love of her life", Francis Brown in 1969 and her beloved daughter, Kimberlee Brown in 1987.
Survived by two sons, Robert (Susie) Brown of Brewerton, Francis (Terri Bowman) Brown of Syracuse; her special and cherished granddaughter whom she raised, Amanda Kelly of Syracuse; two loved and cherished grandsons, Phillip and Alec Brown of Brewerton; her sister, Margaret Sorden of Huntsville, Alabama; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on FRIDAY from 6 to 8 p.m. at Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, 900 N. Salina Street, Syracuse. A funeral service will be held on FRIDAY at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, New York 13088.
