George Benton, known as Benton to most and Pappy to his children and grandchildren; married first in 1908, Maggie Magnolia Pope and to this union they had the noted children, all preceded in death but 3: Estelle Lee, Charles Thomas (Tom), William Lewis (Bill), Martha Betty, F. M, Hettie Clara, M. A., James Dixon, Cynthia Earlene and M. L. Silcox.
Second George Benton married Della Nanny Leach on August 4, 1956 in Smith County, Tennessee. To this union wenbelieve no children were born.

George Benton Silcox
Services for George Benton Silcox, 84, Carthage, were held Thursday, June 3rd, at 2 pm. from the Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home.
Fred S. Cook and Bill Parkerson, ministers, officiated. Burial was in Picket Hiett Cemetary, Monoville.
Mr. Silcox died, Thursday night, June 1 at Lebanon Hospital. He was a member of the Free Holiness Church and was a retired farmer. He was a native of Smith, Smith County.
Survivors are six daughters; Estelle Woodard, Lafayette; Betty Alvis; Hettie Sexton; and Lucille Theiring all of Akron, Ohio; Martene McLaughlin, Clayton, Ind.; Mrs Johnnie Albritton of Gordonsville. Three sons; Thomas Silcox, Lebanon; Bill Silcox, Gallatin and James Silcox of Akron, Ohio. 43 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
