Gospel Singer. Also known as Pap Baxter. A native of Lebanon, Alabama, he was a composer and an organizer of The Baxter Quartet. He also co-founded The Stamps-Baxter Music Company. He was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2001, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1997.
