Robert E. "Bob" Worthington, of Blue Bell, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2005, at his residence. He was 74.
He was born in Norristown on May 24, 1930, a son of the late Stacy H. and Myrtle (Epperly) Worthington and the husband of Janet (Phifer) Worthington. Mr. Worthington retired from the Horsham Clinic where he had been employed as a maintenance administrator. After his retirement from the Horsham Clinic, he and other family members owned and operated the Rainbow Ice Cream Parlor formerly in North Cape May, NJ. He later owned the Tiki Ice Cream Parlor in North Wildwood, NJ. His hobbies included wood working and remodeling. He was a member of the St. Helena Church in Blue Bell. Mr. Worthington attended Norristown High School and the Valley Forge Military Academy, and was an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 622 at St. Titus Church.
In addition to his wife, Janet, married nearly 55 years, he is survived by a son, Robert and his wife Debbie of Worcester; three daughters: Rhonda Goettner and her husband Paul of Pennsburg, Pa, Lori Wells and her husband Frank of Worcester, and Sandie Wiesner and her husband Ted of Alabama; eight grandchildren: Lisa, Becky, Brittany, Eric, Marc, Jared, Janessa, and Candice; a brother, Stacy "Butch" Worthington of Silver Spring, MD; and two sisters: Elaine Slater of Towamencin Township and Virginia O'Toole of West Norriton. A daughter, Susan, preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends attended Robert's "Life Celebration" at St. Helena's Church, DeKalb Pike and Yost Road in Blue Bell on Thursday, February 3, 2005, followed by his Funeral Mass. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in West Norriton, Pa. Family Service was with the Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home, Inc. of East Norriton.
