COTTONDALE Betty Osment Herren, age 69, of Cottondale, died May 16, 2009, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Neal Hodo and Rev. Lyle Geist officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Merritt Osment, and her mother, Thelma Osment.
Survivors include her daughters, Dina Hampton (John) of Decatur and Susan Ryan (Mike) of Cottondale; her sister, Helen O. Price (Terry Gray); and her grandchildren, David Chunn, Sean Ryan, Morgan Hampton, and Christopher Hampton.
Betty graduated from Holt High School. She was a bookkeeper at Tuscaloosa Chevrolet for many years. She lived most of her life in the Cottondale community.
Pallbearers will be John Hampton, David Chunn, Sean Ryan, John Osment, Lee Milsap, and Mike Smith.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of West Alabama for their excellent care, compassion, and dignity they provided our mother.
The family suggests donations to Hospice of West Alabama.
