"Eldon M. Lofton, 87, of Dallas City, IL, died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 1988, at the Fort Madison Nursing Care Center.

"Born March 2, 1901, in Dallas City, IL, he was the son of Manford and Barbara Hupfer Lofton. He married Vesta Paulus in 1923 in Dallas City, IL. He then married Clarese Boos June 24, 1944, in Dallas City, IL. She died in April, 1986.

"He had been employed with the elevator in Dallas City, IL for many years. He was also a carpenter and a painter. He was a member of the Dallas City United Methodist Church and had helped construct the present church building.

"Surviving are one son, Earl Lofton, Bloomfield; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann (Victor) Hunter, Burlington; one sister, Beaulah Lofton, Dallas City, IL; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

"Visitation is today at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Dallas City, IL.

"The service for Mr. Lofton will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Dallas City, IL, with the Rev. Ellen Craig officiating. Burial will be in the Dallas City Cemetery.

"A memorial has been established for the Dallas City United Methodist Church."
