Rebecca Midkiff was the daughter of David Midkiff and Elizabeth Nichols. On 23 December 1847, she married Daniel Peter Forkner, the youngest brother of the Monroe County Forkner patriarch, Lawrence Forkner. Between 1851-1859, they had six children. By 1860, all but one of the children, Faith Ann, had died, possibly of cholera.

In 1861 Rebecca also died. It is believed that this rock (originally posted on Tennessee GenWeb by Joy Locke and Dede Harrill) marks her grave.
