OBITUARY:
JOSEPH DAVIES - "Joseph H. Davies, 86, 249 Roosevelt, died Thursday morning at the Eastgate Healthcare Center following an extended illness.

He was born March 18, 1899 in Salt Lake City, to Henry and Elizabeth Coulam Davies. He was employed as a fireman for Kennecott Copper before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1917. After his discharge from the service, he came to Pocatello and was employed as a fireman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He later worked as an engineer.

He married Elizabeth Smith on March 8, 1921 in Pocatello. He was a member of the Veterans of World War I, American Legion Post No. 4; BPO Elks No. 674; Portnuef Lodge No. 18, AF & AM; Pocatello Scottish Rite Bodies; El Korah Shrine; Southeast Idaho Shrine Club; and the Union Pacific Old Timers Club No. 15.

He is survived by his wife of Pocatello; three daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Elizabeth Ann) Mottishaw, Jackson, California; Mrs. Samuel (Mary Jean) Emerson, Buford, South Carolina; Mrs. Gerald (Marie) Root, Milpitas, California; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Davies, Downey, California; Bryan Davies, Salt Lake City; and a sister, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Pujol, Arcadia, California. He was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a grandson.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1p.m. in the Henderson Funeral Chapel. Rose Croix ritualistic services will be conducted by the Pocatello Scottish Rite Bodies. The family will receive friends Monday from noon until service time at the Henderson funeral Home, 431 N. 15th. Burial will be in the family plot in the Mount Moriah section of Mountain View Cemetery with ritualistic services conducted by Pocatello Lodge No. 674, BPO Elks."
