Julia Mae Robinson Andrews, age 81 of Pensacola, died Thursday, March 29, 2007.
Mrs. Andrews was the third of eight children born to Elbert and Sarah Robinson of Molino, Florida.
Mrs. Andrews accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Molino, Florida. She was a faithful servant of Christ. She worked in many capacities at Union Baptist Church including teaching Sunday School for 45 years, serving as church secretary and singing in several choirs.
In 1998, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Andrews united with Greater Union Baptist Church. Mrs. Andrews was a faithful member of the Sunday School Home Extension, mission, the deaconess ministry, the A.J. King Voices and the A.J. King Fellowship Choir.
Mrs. Andrews was a long-time bowler and a homemaker. She was a lively and loving person, who always spoke to others about the importance of attending church and having a close relationship with God.
In a prayer on January 10, 2007, Mrs. Andrews prayed: "I thank You for letting me live this long. I thank You for all the people around me and the supervisors for taking care of me. You said if I prayed in the right way, you would hear me. I have prayed before Lord, and I am praying now. Bless me right now. I don't know what I would do without the Lord's help. Let those who don't know You come unto You."
She was preceded in death by husband, Marvin Andrews; parents, Elbert and Sarah Robinson; sisters, Ruby Jones and Hattie Jackson; brothers, Deacon Johnnie Robinson and the Rev. Robert Robinson.
She is survived by her sons, Charles (Cassandra) Robinson of Pensacola and Charles (Faye) Paige of Ripley, Tennessee; sisters, Alice Hardaway and Barbara Thornton of Pensacola; brother, Deacon Louis (Velma) Robinson of Pensacola; brothers-in-law, the Rev. Earl Andrews and Deacon Sam Andrews of Pensacola; grandchildren, Carmen Paige of Gulf Breeze; Melissa Brantley of Ripley, Tennessee; Cheryl Paige of Oulu, Finland; Keith (Carolyn) Brantley of Ft. Hood, Texas; Darren Robinson of Virginia; Charles Robinson Jr., Shannon Robinson and Amanda Robinson, all of Pensacola; eight great-grandchildren; godchildren, Ellen Dennis of Pensacola; Telisha Farrow Jackson of Brunswick, Georgia; Francine Parker of Pensacola; Glinda Weaden of Cedartown, Florida; Christopher Paige of Cantonment; and extended family, Suzanne (Briggs) Diuguid of Milton, and Kenny (Patty) Born of Allentown, Florida. She had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Greater Union Baptist Church, 1300 North Guillemard Street, Pensacola, with the Rev. Hugh King Sr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing will be held from noon to 9 p.m., Friday, April 6, at Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home, 701 N. DeVilliers St., Pensacola, Florida. There will not be a wake.
Pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of Greater Union Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the deaconesses of Greater Union Baptist Church.
