Dale Russell Armfield, 88, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, from Waterford Place Health Center, Kokomo. He was born May 29, 1924, in Howard County to Russell and Ella (Fenn) Armfield. On Nov. 24, 1943, he married Mariruth Fouch in Elwood.
Dale was a long-time Taylor Township farmer and worked at Chrysler Corp. Dale was a member of Fairfield Christian Church, Center Naphtali Masonic Lodge and Continental Chapter of the Indiana Society Muncie Chapter Sons of the American Revolution. Dale was a 1940 graduate of Summitville High School. His favorite pastimes were reading, sketching and enjoying time with his family. Genealogy was important to him. Researching his family roots, he traced his family from Howard County to North Carolina to England and Sweden. The best legacy he gave to his wife and family was giving 100 percent of his love, time and respect.
Dale felt one of his greatest honors was having the family 1909 red round barn moved and restored to the Howard County 4-H Fairgrounds in Greentown. The dedication July 9, 2012, to the community was special to him and seeing the sign Armfield-Moyer above the barn door. A story related to the family by Dale was his grandfather and builder Lawrence Armfield asked Dale what would happen to the round barn after Dale retired from farming. Dale informed him, Don't worry, it will be a landmark for the community.
Survivors include his wife, Mariruth Armfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Phillip Knight, Kokomo, Susan and Max Ammerman, Kokomo, and Brenda and Brad Rogers, Kokomo; son, Roger Armfield, Kokomo; one sister-in-law, Juanita Benton; four grandchildren, Aaron Knight (Michelle), Mindy George (Shane Smith), Traci Azato (Dennis) and Jessica Rogers. Dale is survived by 10 great-grandchildren Cali George, Mikaela Knight, Alex Knight, Nathanael Knight, Allysson George, Aiden Azato, Lara George, Evan Azato, Ryan Azato and Iziah George, and one great-great-granddaughter, Victoria Blackburn.

Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and The Continental Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution will have a color guard between 6 and 8 p.m.
