Benjamin Hall was born in Maryland, on the coast, and drowned in the Mississippi River, while engaged in trade by flat-boat on the river. His parents, names unknown, were natives of Charleston, S. C., before moving to Maryland in 1786 or before.
The approximated date of his drowning in the Mississippi is sometime after 1833, when we have a record of some land in Cape Girardeau, MO he bought and before 1840 when the US Census shows his widowed wife, Rebecca Hall, living in Cape Girardeau, next to her second born son, Joseph John Hall. It is thought that the original HALL family home was in the Jonesboro, IL at the time Benjamin's of death ... and it may have been Willed to his eldest son, Green William Hall.
