Alice Faye Fisher, 76, of Arkansas City, KS went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 28, 2011 while being cared for and surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 1st at Blessing Heights Church in Arkansas City, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home of Arkansas City with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established with the KU Cancer Center. Alice was born on August 7, 1934 the daughter of Elmer and Agnes Headman-Howe in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She attended grade school in Ponca City and graduated from Chilocco Indian High School and Haskell Indian Nations University with a degree in business. On April 10, 1970 she was united in marriage to John Fisher in Newton, Kansas. Together they made their home in Arkansas City for 41 years.

As a young woman, she spent her years as a homemaker raising her eight children. Alice enjoyed working with her church and church family by touching many lives through her gospel singing as an ordained minister. She had a big heart and a special gift ministering to victims of drug and alcohol addiction. Alice enjoyed her family to the fullest; planning dinner parties, playing games and traveling with her husband. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving to honor her memory are her husband John Elvin Fisher Sr. of Arkansas City, her children; Jess and his wife Gayla of Arkansas City, Susie of Glen Elder, Kansas, Dale and wife Rhonda of Arkansas City, Jimmy and wife Nancy of Wichita, Marcia of Arkansas City, Mark and wife Julie of Arkansas City, Mary and husband Rick of Arkansas City and John Elvin Jr. and wife Susan of Arkansas City as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents and sister, Carmel Roy, brothers, Bruce Howe, Keith Howe and Elmer Howe Jr. and grandson, Blade Folk.
