Regan was electrocuted while working to repair damage caused by hurricane Fernanda on the Hawaiian island named Kuaui. He was then 35 years old. He was a graduate of Coronado high school in Lubbock Texas and a some time student at Texas Tech University that is also in Lubbock. Regan was preceded in death by brother John Barron Smith, sister Claire Teeta Morgan Smith, sister Deirdre Colleen NoŽllie Smith and brother Rex Christian Smith.
