"Rachael Brewer was born in October, 1834, Steuben county, N.Y. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Brewer, emigrated to Illinois and settled in Milo township in '55, where in '67 she was united in marriage with Daniel C. McCollum, two daughters were born to this union who became the wives of James and Geo. Forbes. About five years ago the wife of James Forbes died of consumption, and now her aged mother has been call to her side on the other shore, carried there by the ravages of the same disease. Last winter Mrs. McCollum had a severe attack of la-grippe from which she never recovered, and later on tuberculosis settled on her lungs. Her death took place at the home of her daughter, Mrs.Geo.Forbes, west of Tiskilwa, Sunday morning, Nov. 7th. If a superlative kindness of heart, a deference to the wishes of others, a lifetime of self denial, a complete devotion to husband and children, and a reverence for the will of her Creator as revealed in the Bible may constitute Christianity, then the deceased was a Christian in deed and in truth. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev.B.W.Harmon, Tuesday, at 2 o'clock p.m. The interment in the Bradford cemetery being under the charge and direction of the O.E.S. of which the deceased."
