Son of Mark Anderson Bond and Mary Crier Bond.

Private,Co. E, 63rd Alabama Infantry, CSA. John fought in the Defense of Mobile, at the siege of Spanish Fort and then Fort Blakeley where he was captured on April 9, 1865. (Note: this was after Appomattox) He was transferred to the Union Prison at Ship's Island, then moved to Vicksburg on May 1st, and finally exchanged May 6th from Camp Townsend to be sent home to Conecuh County, Alabama, while suffering with acute dysentery.

Baptist preacher at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Ft. Jesup, Sabine Parish and Jennings Chapel Baptist Church in Jennings Chapel, Sabine Parish, LA.

John and Mary Algernine (Allie)married July 14, 1869 in Monroe County, AL and had five daughters:
