Passed away suddenly Wednesday, 8 April 1970. He was born 5 January 1900 in Nelsonville, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survived by his wife Egie, 3 daughters Mrs. Jane VanLent of Martin, Mrs. Mary Lou Blank of Allegan, MI, and Mrs. Rose Ann Brooks of Plainwell, MI; 5 sons, James, Donald II, Dale of Martin, Austin of Bloomingdale, MI, Carl of Plainwell, 23 grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Esther Carrick of Reynoldsburg, OH.
Friends may call at the Marshall & Gren Chapel, Plainwell; services will be held at 3:30 Saturday, Rev. Seth Clay officiating. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Plainwell, MI.
He was killed Wednesday when the tractor he was driving tipped over, and pinned him beneath it. He was skidding logs with the tractor when the accident occurred. He was found about 3 hours later by a son, Dale. Dr. Janis Pone of Martin pronounced Hall dead at the scene.
Don farmed in Ohio until moving to Michigan in 1936. Under the WPA, he helped build the Allegan Senior High School. He went on to work at Menasha Paper Mill and the Otsego Gas Plant until 1944; then moved to a farm north of Otsego in 1944, which he bought in 1946 and worked until 1954. From 1954 to December 1969, he worked for North American Aluminum.
