Marilyn Louise Brown
Birth: Mar. 9, 1953
California, USA
Death: Jul. 22, 1997, USA

Marilyn Brown was an American actress, who performed on stage, in television and in feature films. She was the sister of actor Barry Brown, as well as the sister of author James Brown.

Fans of any of these talented individuals will know the back story of the siblings' childhood; neither Marilyn, named after Marilyn Monroe, nor her brother Barry would live to tell the stories of their dysfunctional background and raising, but James has went into great detail in his books "Final Performance" "The Los Angeles Diaries" and "Hot Wire."

This page is not to re-hash those facts, then, since they are readily available on a Google or Amazon search; instead, this page celebrates the beauty and talent of this young woman.

Marilyn, just like her siblings, had a genius IQ, and easily learned dance and acting skills at a young age; she continued these interests even after marrying young in life.

Barry and Marilyn made their feature film debuts together, in small parts in the film, "In Love and War"; Barry would go onto some acclaim as he moved into his twenties, but Marilyn seemed to be destined for off-Broadway productions and B-grade movies. When one watches the beautiful young woman in what sparse film she has left behind for us, it is not an exaggeration to say that her semi-anonymity throughout her life was a true loss to the entertainment field.

Marilyn was as troubled as her brothers were, and almost twenty years after Barry would commit suicide, she, too, chose to end her life. On July 22, 1997, Marilyn left her home in only her pajamas, climbed a freeway overpass in Los Angeles, and jumped.

She was 44 years old, married, and the mother of one child.

I hope that friends and fans of both Barry and James will think to stop by, now and then, to say hello to Marilyn; I was told that she did not qualify as 'famous', and so I am putting this page up with the intention of managing it, myself...anyone with public domain photographs or personal remembrances of Marilyn should feel free to contact me, so that we can make this the true and complete tribute this lovely lady deserves.
