Cathleen Dennison Alston, 61, of Georgetown, SC, died on September 26, 2015 at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Charleston, SC. Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.

Mrs. Alston was born on December 21, 1953 in Georgetown, SC, a daughter of Caleb Rutledge and Ethel Washington. She was educated in the public schools of Georgetown and attended Bethel A.M.E. Church. On January 29, 1973, she enlisted into the United States Army, where she served as a Medical Corpsman in Germany until receiving an honorable discharge, and later worked in various capacities including with Pawleys Plantation Resort. Mrs. Alston was united in marriage to Horace Gene Alston (deceased).

She is survived by, her children, Genene Alston, Carlos Dennison, David Sherald, Gene Alston, all of Georgetown, SC, Michael Rutledge, New Haven, CT, Chrishaundi Butler, Glen Burnie, MD; five siblings, Caleb Rutledge, Carlton Rutledge, Georgetta Rutledge, Sarah Rutledge, all of Georgetown, SC, Thomas Rutledge, Brooklyn, NY.
