NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, January 10, 1912
After an illness of only six days of pneumonia, J. Leonard Bradshaw, one of the prominently connected young men of this community, died at his mother's home last Friday morning at one o'clock. He was perhaps one of the most loved young men of the entire countryside, his unusual kindness of disposition having won for him a host of friends who were shocked to hear of his death. Rev. W.H. Henry conducted funeral services at the Baptist church after which the interment took place at Bacon Level cemetery. Mr. Bradshaw was 26 years of age, a prominent member of the Standing Rock Camp W.O.W. (Woodmen of the World) and was a successful planter, having managed his mother's business here for a number of years.
He is survived by his mother Mrs. Mary Bradshaw; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Howell of Riverview and Miss Ozella Bradshaw of this place; four brothers, Charles Bradshaw of Opelika; Oscar Bradshaw of Abbeville, Ala.; and Sam and Herbert Bradshaw, both of this place. The bereaved family and relatives have the sympathy of all their friends.
