Dix Hall Beeson, son of Jennie E. (Banks), a native of Chenango county, NY, and Benjamin F. Beeson, a native of Richmond, IN, was raised in Calvin Township, Cass County, MI, with a sister, Grace (Beeson) Ashley, and a brother, Otis J.
After spending some time at Hillsdale College, Mr. Beeson moved to Three Oaks, Berrien Co., MI, and established himself as a druggist on the main street of that town. He also engaged in farming. He married in 1885 Ella J. James of Calvin Township, daughter of Catherine (McFaren/Farren)James Girt and Edward K. James. He and Ella had three children, Paul, Lois, and Helen. The family lived on the main street in the first home north of the railroad tracks, on the west side of the street. The 1930 US Census for Three Oaks, MI, identifies the address as 205 Elm Street. The following information is from the "A Twentieth Century History of Berrien County, Michigan," by Judge Orville W. Coolidge, p. 457:
"Mr. Beeson . . . has served as supervisor of his township for one term. He has also been township treasurer for several terms and a member of the village council. He was also a member of the board of education. . .He belongs to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and also to the Masonic Lodge . . ."
