Florence Eunice (Kennedy) Montgomery was born Dec. 17, 1917, at Mineral Springs, Ark., to Thomas Alvis and Mary (Young) Kennedy. She was the sixth of Tommy and Mary's eleven children. The family moved to the Pocasset community where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in 1941 with a teaching degree; while at the college, she was a member of the Pi Zeta Kappa Honorary Religious Sorority and Pi Gamma Mu Honorary Social Studies Sorority.

Florence married Bernard M. Montgomery on Aug. 19, 1951, at First Methodist Church in Lawton. They raised two children in Lawton, Melva Joyce and Betty Lou Montgomery (they also lost another daughter in infancy).

Florence was a member of First United Methodist Church for many years, where she was a member of the Tomlinson Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women's Association. After 27 years of teaching, she retired in 1968. She was a member of the Lawton Retired Teachers Association.

Florence's husband Bernard died in 1997. Florence died on 9 Dec, 2004.
