Walter George Biermann, beloved son of Walter Henry Biermann and his spouse, Christina Gertrude (nee Schottmueller) Biermann, was born on the 10th of October 1916, in the City of St. Louis, Missouri. He was the couples only child.
Walter George attended St. Laborius School, graduating with his classmates in 1930, during an evening ceremony held on Wednesday, June 11th of that year.
Walter George would meet his future wife, Dorothy (nee Weber) Biermann, while in high school. The young couple dated throughout high school.
Walter and Dorothy were wed on July 23, 1938, in the Parlor of St. Laborius Church. Walter was 23 years old and Dorothy, was 21.
During World War II, Walter served in the U.S. Navy, from 27 January 1944, until 6 April 1946. He and his family were stationed in Alameda, California.
After the war ended, he and his family returned to St. Louis, where Walter would begin his career with the U.S. Postal Service. During the period of 1950 to 1952, Walter he also served in the U.S. Navy.
Over the years, Walter and Dorothy raised three wonderful children. In time, they took great pride in becoming grandparents of six grandchildren, and eventually became Great-grandparents of eleven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy and Walter went onto celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, on July 23, 1988, along with a host of family and friends!
Walter George Biermann retired from the U.S. Post Office, as a U.S. Postal Inspector, after a career spanning 40 years.
Walter was a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Postal Credit Union; a 49 year member of the American Legion; and at the time of his death, was a current member of Lake St. Louis Post #632, Past Commanders Club of St. Louis and N.A.R.F.E. Chapter #1240.
Walter and Dorothy spent a very happy retirement, visiting family, traveling throughout the United States, Hawaii, and Europe, and at their home on Lake St. Louis.
But most of all, Walter enjoyed his favorite past-time ... donning his engineer coveralls and climbing into the Engine of the train at the St. Louis Zoo, where he would spend his days taking visitors from all over the world for rides!
