★★★★★★★★★★ UNITED STATES VETERAN ★★★★★★★★★★

Information capsule below as posted by FGraver Sherry Reynolds, before her own passing:

Walter Erving was born to parents Andrew James and Victoria E. (the "E" probably stands for Evelyn) whose final resting place is Norway (MI) Township cemetery (his oldest sister Frances, who died of a lung condition in 1919 after one week in this world rests here, as well).

Walter passed away at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Walter had been a resident of the Dickinson County, Michigan area.

Walter served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II. He was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church, the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50, and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He had served as commander of the DAV for several years and was very active.

Mr. Bilski's greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family whether he called or met with them personally.

Walter married Alyson Narissa Branam around 1950. Besides his nieces and nephews, Walter had sons Vincent John and Mark Andrew and daughters Donna Lou, Terese Joan, Mary Alyson and Sally Ann. He had a daughter named Victoria Joan (see her find a grave entry) who survived almost 4 months too.

Walter is buried in Quinnesec (MI) cemetery with his maternal grandparents and a daughter, Victoria Joan, who passed away in 1954.

Walter also had one brother, John Andrew Bilski, and two sisters, Bernice Marie Reynolds and Joan Kay Bilski.

(See) photo of a younger Walter with oldest daughter Donna Lou and wife Alyson, at Racine, WI zoo; the middle photo is me and cell phone photographing Walter's grave site is at right.

Walter was my maternal uncle (my mom's youngest brother).
