|Birth: ||Jan. 21, 1810|
Bavaria (Bayern), Germany
|Death: ||Jul. 27, 1868|
Born in Langenreuth, Bavaria. Immigrated in 1841 (according to dgtr Elizabeth on 1900 U.S. Federal Census). St. John Lutheran Church of Evanston, IN, has record of marriage 5 May 1842, Spencer County, IN. On U.S. Federal Censuses 1850 & 1860, name is anglicized to John Brown. The Braun (Brown) children on the censuses are Michael, Elizabeth, Johannes W., Christine, Johann A., Peter, Friedrich, Johann Georg, Christoph, Margaretha, Johann Heinrich, and Katherine. The church record is mostly the same as the census, except church record lists Wilhelm and not Johann A. Wilhelm, on the church record without a birth date, is named in the obituaries of his mother and his brother Fred. The mother's obituary says three children preceded her in death. Death records have not yet been found for Peter, Christine, or Johann A. - but records exist for the ten children known to survive following their mother's death. Peter and Christine lived at least to early adulthood, as Peter married Mary Bangert, and Christine married Friedrich (his last name is not legible in church record).
Many of the names have been anglicized.
