Peter L BRABSTETTER born near Ashley, MissourI, on 11 February 1825. His youth was passed in working on his father's farm. He married Missouri Ann HENDERSON, and settled near New Harmony. They were the parents of ten children.
After she died, he married Sarah Frances ELMORE, they were blessed with ten children.
In the spring of 1850, Peter L. and his brothers Grundy and Simon left Pike County for the gold fields of California, a trip of 4 months and 4 days. They remained in
California until July 1851.
Peter L. was a man of great natural ability and exdtremely studious. He first embraced religion in 1844 and was licensd to preach in 1860 by the Regular baptist Church, subsequently traveling through different states preach the gospel.
He was a zealous worker in the Master's cause. He took an active part in the organizxation of several churches. He took a high stand in the cause of Christianity and morality, and was ever ready to assist in whatever tends to elevate the morals of the people. No man in the township did more for religion and education tha he.
