Richard Jon Heidbrink

Feb. 15, 1958-June 1, 2015

Age: 57

Residence: Greeley, Colorado

Richard Jon Heidbrink, 57, of Greeley passed away June 1, 2015, surrounded by his family after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Richard is remembered for his sense of humor, zest for life and his generosity of time and resources.

Richard was born on Feb. 15, 1958, in Fort Morgan, Colo. He enjoyed many activities throughout his life, including water skiing, 4-wheeling, snow skiing, hunting, swimming and flying. As a boy, he could be found at the swimming pool or lake almost every day but Sunday. He also enjoyed music and was the lead trumpet in the Fort Morgan High band and jazz band. As a teenager, Richard acquired a CB radio and base station and he spent many nights helping stranded strangers that would ask for help on the radio.

Richard took an early interest in electronics and began working for an electrician while still in junior high. After high school Richard served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Carolina. He would always joke that he picked up the language “just like that.” After his missionary service he returned to his chosen profession of being an electrician and worked hard and became one of the best in his field. In 2004 he founded Rocky Mtn Electric, LLC, in Greeley where he serviced companies in Colorado and the surrounding states. His expertise combined with his customer service led to the company’s inevitable success. He prepared his son, Joshua, to continue in his footsteps.

Richard was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership capacities. He offered spiritual strength to his family and many others. He had a natural talent for teaching and loved to teach the Gospel. He was always helpful and generous and will be missed not only by his family, but by many friends in his church, business and community.

Richard married Pam on Sept. 5, 1981. Together they raised four fine sons, Mark Richard (wife-Camille, son-John), Robert Edward (wife-Lindsay, daughter-Claire), Joshua Dirk (wife-Cameron, daughters-Abigail, Emily), and Scott Jared (wife-Caffreina). He taught his boys to try many things to discover what they enjoy. All are married to fine women and are beginning to raise families of their own.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Edward Heidbrink.

He is survived by his wife and sons, four grandchildren, and five siblings.

Friends and family are invited to pay their final respects from 6-8 p.m. June 5, 2015, at the Adamson Funeral Home, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 6 at 10 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
