Ronald J.MacKersie died Dec. 16, 1992, at his residence. He was born Sept. 11, 1906, in Leeds, N.D., the oldest son of Charles and Anna (Loomis) MacKersie. He made his home in Barryton, MI., for 83 years. On Feb. 9, 1947, he married Elizabeth Diehlman of Evart, and they made their home in Barryton until his death. A World War II Army Veteran, he was a member of the Barryton United Methodist Church, Barryton American Legion Post 473. He also belonged the the Barryton Odd Fellow Lodge, Barryton Rod and Gun Club, Barryton Chamber of Commerce and was very active in civic affairs. Him and his brothers, Howard and Harland owned and operated MacKersie Brothers Meat Market and Grocery Store in Edmore, MI., and MacKersie Brothers Market and Frozen Food Locker in Barryton, until his retirement in 1977. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, two sons, Ronald Jr. of Barryton and Paul and his wife Janet, of Big Rapids, three grandchildren, James, Jan and Jennifer; one sister, Mrs. Velma Butts of Barryton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Russell, Howard, Harland and Vurl. Services were held Dec. 18th with Rev. Authur Murphy officiating.
