town. He represented the town at Exeter in 1788-89. He held numerous
town offices, his name occuring most frequently in the town records.
His oldest son LEVI ALLEN was also popular with the people, and was
so much engaged with town business, settling estates, etc., that he
neglected his more paying business and became poor, when his pride
forced him to move from town."
