Howard J. Carlo, 70, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He lived in Tannersville, Pennsylvania.
Lefty, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in Long Island, New York and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Most of his working career, he was employed by Frito Lay as a salesman until he retired in 2004. He always had a second job working on cars at a garage or service station throughout his life. This was his true passion - cars.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Bella Proffman-Carlo.
Lefty is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marie Totaro-Carlo.
He is also survived by his beloved daughters Catherine Bittlingmeyer and her husband, John, and Laura Carlo, all of Tannersville, Pennsylvania; a brother, Conrad Carlo of The Villages im Florida; a sister, Gail Wentzel of Levittown, New York, as well as his brothers-in-law: Ralph Meglia and his wife, Laura, of Deer Park, New York and Lawrence Totaro and his wife, JoAnn, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lefty also left behind his pride and joys, five loving and devoted grandchildren: Michael T. Strouse Jr. and his fiancée, Brittany A. Kessler, Anthony J. Strouse, Gregory J. Oney, Jessica M. Oney and Katie M. Bittlingmeyer; and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing was held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco, Pennsylvania.
The Rev. Richard Czachor celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 327 Cherry Lane Road, Tannersville, Pennsylvania.
Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard "Lefty's" honor were made to Davita Pocono Dialysis, 447 Office Plaza, 100 Plaza Court, Suite B., East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
