died 23 days shy of 100. Born 1907 to Forest and Gertrude(Dumontier) Holdsworth. Graduate of Pontiac High and was employed most of her adult life, wife of Cecil Albert Bondurant and mother to a son Alan. Very active in the congregational church Pontiac Mi, oakland co. historical society, Moms, eastern star.
I am sorry to say I wasn't as close to Grandma as I could have been, as I have come to learn about her later she was born to a gregarious father and a retiring mother who was very dependant on her, as the oldest child. While in elementary school she brought home an illness to the family, that her baby brother died of(he was the namesake for Louis her mothers father who had died when her mother was a child herself) The heartbreak was great in the family and grandma took that feeling with her through life, her father was in real estate and the family moved frequently, grandma once recalling living out of boxes in a home for a month before moving again. When her Father passed rather suddenly she was in the position of dealing with his business affairs and taking care of her dependant mother and sister while dealing with first time motherhood at 40(surprise! Within a short time her younger sister also passed away. As always, she was dependable and dutiful taking care of her mother and taking on the responsibility of caring for an uncle as well. My Grandmother was 60 at the time of my birth and a lifetime of caregiving already, when she found that her husband my grandfather had cancer, She continued to work (they both did) until his sickness was to advanced and she nursed him at home where he died. She continued to care for the uncle after for several years until his death. During all this time she managed to hold offices for Eastern star, MOMs, Historical Society, Congregational Church, and a part time job, after 70 she met and married again, and after several interstate moves he was given a cancer diagnoses and again she nursed him until his passing. She buried her youngest brother and last sibling in the 90's and it must have been heartbreaking. I hold her in great respect and with honor for her lifetime of giving.
