Born in Riccarton, Ayshire, Scotland. Daughter of John McFie Kennedy (1791-1857) and Marion Richmond (1790-1874). Emigrated to the U.S. in 1851. Initially settled in Ohio before moving on to Brazil, Clay County, Indiana about 1860.
Two of Marian's brothers Thomas Kennedy (1824-1864) and John Kennedy (1827-1892) also emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Brazil, Clay County, Indiana.
Husband William Campbell was a coal miner in Scotland and in the U.S. Marian's brother John Kennedy (1827-1892) and husband William Campbell started the first coal mine in Brazil, Indiana.
Brother John Kennedy (1827-1892) is buried at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Brazil, Clay, Indiana. See Find A Grave Memorial# 112281135.
Brother Thomas Kennedy (1824-1864) went missing during the Battle of Chickamauga on 20 September 1863. He was taken as a confederate prisoner of war and died of starvation on 9 October 1864 while being held as a POW in a confederate field prison at Savannah, Georgia. Thomas's widow Mary Shaw Kennedy remarried to Thomas Douglass in 1868. She is buried at Old Hill in Brazil, Indiana as Mary Shaw Douglass (1828-1891). See Find A Grave Memorial# 78255331.
