Jane LaRue was the daughter of William Washington (Wash) and Sarah Louise Albright LaRue. Her family lived near Lovelady, Houston County, Texas in the small farming community of Center Hill.
Jane married Walter Bennett on December 26, 1899 in Crockett, Houston County, Texas. They raised three children: Evy, Earle and Joe Bennett. The children all graduated from the Crockett Public School System and all of them attended college. Evy became an English teacher at Crockett High School.
Jane loved flowers and she grew them easily. Her jonquils were among her favorites. She also loved her family and home. She and Walter had one of the first cars in the county.
Jane died in 1946 from high blood pressure and a cerebral hemmorage. Her visitation was held in her home in Crockett. Several family friends were "sitters" during that time. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Crockett.
Jane is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Crockett, Houston County, Texas, next to her husband Walter. Her three children and their spouses are buried in the same plot which is visited by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
